# 59 Major

# 59
Admittedly, at first I choose the business as major since it looks like I have no other optimal choice. I’m not so good at engineering courses such as chemical industry and electronic engineering. And when I apply the OSU for business major, I’m not satisfied with my situation because I know that there are so many Chinese students choose this major too, and this means there will be enormous competition. But when I’m reading Mankiw’s Principles of Economics last summer, I felt that I’m kind of interesting in it, I began to eager what I would learn from Fisher. After attending the BA survey course and focus more on the business issues, I set my sights on business and finance. And last month, I’m so excited and surprised to receive the email which announced me that I’ve been accepted from Fisher and get into the finance major. I’m quite surprised because when I fulfill the application form last quarter, I chose the application date on June 1st, but the enroll admission come so quickly. I’m a little unhappy since although I’ve enrolled in the Fisher college, I can’t learn the specialized courses since I haven’t finished the basic course and I had to pay more 500 dollars tuition from next quarter.
I choose finance as my major instead of other popular major such as accounting and marketing since finance has a broader range, and expand to more areas. Finance plays a significant role in not only a single company, but also the whole society.
Choosing this major also means I must withstand overwhelming pressure and competition, but I will try my best to rank on the top.
